BOY SCOUT TROOP 79
c/o DON WILSON
704 WOODLAND DRIVE, EAST
ST. JOSEPH, ILLINOIS 61873
October 30, 2009
Dear Candidate for Comptroller:
Each year on the first Saturday in February Boy Scout Troop 79 hosts a community breakfast. We sell tickets to approximately 500 local folks who support our troop and its activities.
Four years ago we opened our breakfast to all the governor candidates running for office that year. All the candidates took the opportunity to meet and greet the local citizens and be able to talk to them and tell them of their plans. The folks of this area were very happy to be able to see and talk with the candidates in person and the Scout Troop received lots of thanks for providing this opportunity.
However, the primary elections will be over on February 3rd, 2010. Therefore there will only be those candidates who will be on the general election in November. Our invitation still stands for those candidates (all who ran) and their entourage.
This is a time for you to meet and greet and talk to 300 to 500 of your potential constituents. However, please be advised, we do not make time for speeches. You may bring all the literature that you would like to distribute to those attending.
The details of the Lumberjack Buffet Breakfast are:
When: Saturday, February 6, 2010
Time: 6:00 to 10:00 A.M.
Location: St. Joseph Grade School Cafeteria
Address : 404 South 5th Street, St. Joseph, Illinois (Just 7 miles east of Urbana on I-74 exit 293)
Cost: $5.00 per person
We are sending this notice to all local, state, and national candidates for the 2010 election. Therefore, I ask that you forgive the blanket letter. We just wanted to get this out as quickly as possible.
We promise that you will be happy with your very profitable morning. Also we can assure you that you won’t go away hungry.
Please reply with your acceptance or regrets by calling Don Wilson, “The Older’n Dirt Scouter.
Thank you for your consideration and we look forward to hearing from you with your acceptance to this awesome breakfast.
